The first time I talked to Dr. Knorr was
by phone. It was evident right away that
he was easy to talk to and he listened to me.
I had seen his photo on the clinic’s website, so I knew what he looked
like. So I was putting his voice with
his image as we spoke.
After I started working with Dr. Knorr, I
learned that he is dedicated to the care of his patients. He prepares for each appointment and does
extra research or physician consults if he thinks it will benefit the patient. He is diligent in finding treatment that will
help a patient, and does not give up if the disease is stubborn or tricky. His mind is constantly searching for ideas
that may help a patient heal. Dr. Knorr
is motivated to be a good doctor from a sincere interest in and caring for his
patients.
Dr. Knorr was six years old when he moved
to the United States from Germany with his family. I have had new patients ask me if he was from
South Africa, or Scandinavia. Dr. Knorr
speaks English, German, and French. It
is fun for me to listen to Dr. Knorr speak another language with a patient,
even though I can’t understand what they are saying. I took German for a year in ninth grade, so I
recognize a few words. : )
Dr. Knorr was raised in Iowa and his love
for healthy living was nurtured by his parents and family. He took several herbal medicine courses in
Northern California during college, and his interest in Naturopathic Medicine was
launched. He pursued his interest in
natural medicine by investigating the four year degree programs in Naturopathic
Medicine.
The six principles of
Naturopathic Medicine resonated with Dr. Knorr, 1. First Do No Harm 2.
Restore and Support Inherent Healing
Systems 3. Find the Underlying Cause/s of Illness 4. Treat the Whole Person 5.
Adopt Prevention 6. Emphasize Wellness.
He began his Naturopathic Medical studies in 1991 at the National
College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. His focus during these studies was herbal
medicine and homeopathy and he completed his courses in 1995.
The following year Dr. Knorr completed
his residency at Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington. He enjoyed working at the Natural Health
Clinic of Bastyr University and seeing how natural medicine benefited peoples’
lives. Dr. Knorr practiced in Montrose,
Colorado for one year before moving to Utah, and has practiced in Utah since
1998. He has been at the Eastside
Natural Health Clinic since 2000.
